The Dr. Charlee Moore Distinguished Teacher Award
The Wellness Forum Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the Dr. Charlee Moore Distinguished Teacher Award. This award, presented annually, will recognize a Central Ohio teacher who has developed or implemented innovative programs that encourage children to make healthier food choices.
The award is named after Dr. Charlee Moore, a recently-retired teacher from Worthington, Ohio, who was instrumental in starting and growing The Wellness Forum Foundation. In addition to being a committed educator who was loved and respected by students, parents, school administrators and the community, Dr. Moore has dedicated herself to improving the eating habits and health of children and adolescents.
Dr. Moore accomplished a great deal during her tenure as a board member and director of the Wellness Forum Foundation. She assisted in upgrading the curriculum used in the Family and Consumer Science classes in the Worthington high schools to insure that the information used was up-to-date and scientifically sound. She received approval to offer wellness programs to teachers for continuing education credits, and over 100 teachers in the Worthington Schools took her course. She assisted individuals from schools and school systems throughout the United States in developing school nutrition policies and instituting programs designed to improve school food. And she helped to organize national conferences that allowed interested people from all over the United States to gain the inspiration and knowledge needed to make a positive difference in children's nutritional status and health.
This award is a small token of the Foundation's appreciation for Dr. Moore's efforts and her ongoing commitment to bettering the lives of children.
