How We Can Help You - Here are some of the ways in which we can help you to make a positive difference in your school or school system:

General Advice
We have worked with parents, teachers, health care professionals, food service personnel, and school administrators in addressing children's health issues and school food. We know what works and what doesn't and can provide general direction, a sounding board, and materials to facilitate your efforts.

Informational Seminars for Parents
We can provide a speaker to address your parent group, or provide you with a presentation to deliver yourself.

Informational Seminars for Teachers and Other School Personnel
When it is appropriate to do so, Foundation Board members and volunteers can speak to either one teacher or staff member, or a whole group.

Health Fairs
School health fairs are a great way to involve kids and their parents in learning more about healthy eating and living. We'll be happy to participate or give you general advice in organizing a health fair.

School Nutrition Committees and Policies
Changing school food is a daunting task and requires the cooperation and buy-in of many people. One way to gather support is to form a School Nutrition Committee for the purpose of developing a comprehensive plan for improving food and beverage offerings. We can help you to select the right people, provide templates that guide your discussions, and be available through conference calls or personal attendance (if your school is located in the Greater Columbus area) to assist you in this endeavor.

Food Tastings
This program is limited to schools in the Greater Columbus area, and can involve our visiting your school with healthy food samples for a classroom, or a field trip to our facility in Worthington for a cooking demo with one of our chefs.

Classroom Presentations
The Foundation has developed age-appropriate materials for use in classrooms by teachers, or by parents who want to volunteer some time in their child's class. In some instances we can provide speakers for classrooms in the Greater Columbus area.

Continuing Education Programs
Some of the foundation's programs have been approved for Continuing Education Units for teachers. We can provide outlines and other support materials to facilitate approval in your district. In some areas, we have personnel to teach these programs, or we can train someone locally for you.

Consulting Services
Developing new menu items and plans, educating the community about a school's new food program, and getting kids to eat new foods can be challenging. Let us help you by providing either general advice or hands-on assistance in the development and implementation of your new plans.
